Workshops

Welcome to Studio 3

Whether you are picking up a brush for the first time or hoping to reawaken your creative spirit, The workships will get you out of your head and into the Joy of Painting

Leave the critic behind for awhile. Stop waiting. Start here.

All classes take place in a working studio at Eastside Atelier in Vancouver and are intentionally limited to very small groups. In a judgement-free zone where your inner critic is banned. Scroll down to see the current workshop listings.

If you’ve ever thought, “I ‘d love to paint, but I’m afraid to start,” this is where you start.

This class is built for beginners, the hesitant, and anyone who feels intimidated by a blank canvas. We break things down into simple, manageable steps so you can begin without overthinking. You’ll learn how to start, what to do next, and how to keep going when the painting hits the awkward stage. No pressure to be good. The focus is on getting comfortable, experimenting, and building a way into the work. The emphasis is on loosening up, exploring materials, and discovering that creativity grows through practice rather than perfection. Participants experiment with colour, brushwork, and simple techniques in a relaxed environment where curiosity is encouraged.

You’ll learn the core skills that support everything—how to mix colour, handle materials, compose a painting so it holds together. These are practical tools you can return to again and again. The goal isn’t perfection. It’s understanding. Once you understand what’s happening, you have more freedom in how you work.
